Built to Tier III specifications, the Melita Primary Data Centre in Madliena is the only purpose-built facility in Malta. It covers a total fully-fenced footprint of 10,000m2, making it the island’s largest facility.
This strategically-chosen site is a solitary building situated on high-ground. It is detached from the main traffic arteries, does not pose flooding risks and does not sit under any aircraft flight paths, thus meeting and exceeding the stringent levels of security required. Beyond that, the site is located just a few minutes away from the main business hubs of Sliema and St Julian’s, ensuring it is excellently connected to the power grid.
Our secondary Data Centre facility in Mriehel is built to the same strict technical specifications as our primary site in Madliena.
Strategically located within Melita’s Head Office in the fastgrowing Central Business Hub, the site is connected to our Madliena POP via two diverse high-capacity fibre optic cables fully owned and managed by Melita.
This secondary facility is PCI-DSS compliant and ISO27001 certified, making it an ideal alternative hosting site.
In 2021 Melita became carbon neutral. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact by minimising our electricity consumption, investing in solar energy and supporting international renewable energy projects. We have set emissions reduction targets through the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The targets, covering greenhouse gas emissions from our operations, are consistent with reductions required to keep warming to 1.5°C, the most ambitious goal of the Paris Agreement.
The Melita international gateway provides superior capacity through multiple in-built redundancy elements aimed at offering the best possible connectivity services out of Malta. This allows our customers to benefit from enterprise-grade symmetric connectivity from diverse providers at no contention, with low latency and high speeds.
Covering an area of 10,000m2 Melita’s fully-fenced data centre is the largest on the island
